Chief Engineer of a Vessel

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of the engine room machinery and equipment onboard designated vessel.

  • Ensures that approved operating and safety procedures are adhered to at al times
  • Keeps safety at the forefront of all activities
  • Performs troubleshooting, problem solving as well as preventative and corrective maintenance to prevent down time and to ensure the efficient and continual functioning of the vessel
  • Directly responsible for the supervision, coaching and mentoring of engine room crew members

2nd Class Engineer

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Purser / Deckhand

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience in a Canadian marine environment in bridge look-out duties
  • Experience using deck machinery or equipment such as capstans, windlass, and ropes
  • Experience with cash handling
  • M.E.D. A1
  • Valid Marine Medical Certificate
  • Marine Basic First Aid Certificate
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than fast rescue boats certificate
  • Passenger Safety Management Certificate (asset)
  • ROC-Marine Commercial certificate (asset)

2nd Mate

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Watch Duty
  • Safety and Security
  • Maintaining the bridge navigational and communications equipment
  • Assisting with vessels piloting and navigation
  • Reporting to Captain/Master in communicating and enforcing all company policies and procedures
  • Performs Bridge navigation and deck watch
  • Administrative duties including vessel chart inventory, creating and maintaining training, orientation, safety, vessel certification, employee certification logs
  • Participates in Safety training, meetings and drills

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To prepare, cook and plan complete meals or individual dishes for vessel staff.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
